You don’t have to own a moving company to be an educated consumer.  Here are 3 tips we share with our Studdard Moving Group clients:

1) Know the rules regarding your type of move

Moving companies must meet a different set of requirements and licensing to move clients across the country versus across town or across the state. Studdard Moving Group is fully licensed to do all 3 types of moves.

2) Do a little research and planning.

If you’re contemplating hiring a moving company, as always, the American Moving and Storage Association’s website is a good place to start.

3) Read and understand your paperwork

If you know the cost of your move up front, you should have no surprises on the other end. While few contracts guarantee a price, most have a “not to exceed” clause. And check if valuation (damage coverage)  is included. Is it enough to cover the replacement value of your most expensive items?
